Strictly Swing Competitions
Strictly Swing competitions are designed to highlight skills in improvisational (Lead/follow) swing dancing, with a variety of partners and music. As we are a West Coast Swing-Centric event, our Strictly Swing competitions will be predominantly WCS-based. In Strictly Swing divisions, you choose your partner ahead of time and enter as a couple, which you will be judged as. Strictly Swing competitors will dance to music selected by the appointed competition DJ.
At Capital Swing 2025, we will be offering 4 different Strictly Swing competitions, varying based on level, age, and/or style of dance. Any individual may dance in multiple strictly swing divisions, as long as they qualify. Although the division qualifications should eliminate this possibility, the exception is that a competitor may not dance with the same partner (in the same roles) in multiple skill-based divisions. If a Masters Strictly Swing couple would like to compete in the skill-based division they qualify for, this would be allowed.
